pressure readings
« on: February 05, 2008, 10:44:10 PM »

forgive my technical nievity, will a bike supported by front & rear paddock stand reading, lets say 32/34, once taken off stands, still give the same reading once the tyre is compressed under wieght of the bike?

I wouldn't expect it to change noticably unless the pressure was extremely low  :dontknow:

well you see the pressure would only increase if the
tyre could not 'strecth' to displace the load of the
weight of the bike.

in simple terms, blow a ballon up to half size,
then squash it slightly in your hands,
you will see the baloon change in shape as it disperses the air volume.
if you got several people to squash it and thus not let it swell
you would increase the pressure.

Thats not strickly true - race tyres work at the optimum pressures of 36psi... when hot!

We're only guessing when we put 28.5 in the rear and 30s in front when cold. It's just a guide really....
