WHAT does SUPERSTOCK mean again???
As the name Superstock suggests the class is for lightly modified production motorcycles. The main modificatios consist of removing all the stock road gear such as lights and mirrors and replacing the stock bodywork. The rear shock can be replaced with a race spec item as can the exhaust system.
The front fork internals can be modified and the fitment of a power commander is allowed. The British Superstock and Superstock Cup championships run a control tyre system silmilar to the World Superbike championship. The tyre manufacturer is Metzeler who supply the entire grid in both classes their Racetec K1/K2 tyres.
Despite the Superstock bikes being close to standard they can still lap most circuits only a few seconds off of the full Superbike machines and produce over 180 BHP at the rear wheel. The class is a breeding ground for up and coming talent and former Superbike level riders. It is a cost effective way of proving a riders ability on the BSB stage.
