New bike for 08?
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:56:51 PM »

Guys

Cant decide on the trackday bike for next year -- what would you go for and if relevant -- why ?!

Done a few years on track now, respectable fast group pace.  Done 1000's 600's and twins (the bikes)

Whaddya reckon ?

Cheers Mark

Get the Glenn Richards ex superstocker Mark, you know you want to ;-)

600cc is too much hard work against 1000cc bikes, if your sticking to trackdays only next year. I got to the point where i hadnt got much more to give to mine and it got boring.

and not a sniff of a Suzuki 1000 K5-7  :icon_scratch:  any reason for not considering one? I thought, possibly incorrectly, that they were the perfect track tool  :icon_thumright:

Wanted something "newish" - which really discounts the K5.  Seems lots of people struggle with the setup on the K7 (club racing level) which currently only leaves the K6 ... and I want something late 07 or early 08 ... kinda discounts itself for the time being.

A guy on Visordown or Throttlemonkies (Madracer i think) tried racing a 1098 but gave up on it as he couldn't get on with it and back to a Jap 1000

Not ridden my K5 that much yet but all the signs point to the makings of a damned good track bike so far - feels soooo much lighter than my old '07 10R ( felt very long and low ! ) - having ridden Glenns '04 10R I would say that the K5 Gixxer Thou is VERY similar although probably a good deal more forgiving  [whistle]

Which is probably a good thing as far as I am concerned  :dontknow: - I am sure Glenn will be able to give you a better comparison once he's had a blast round the " circuit " on it  [whistle]
