600 to a 1000
« on: October 09, 2006, 07:42:43 AM »

Right Chaps....here's the question....my current Bikes a ZXR636 C6F.....looking at possible Trade in for CBR1000R....now excluding monies for now the Blade in question is immaculate.....but I'm more asking ...do I need the extra power....will it handle any better...will it speed me up or slow me down....just now I have the confidence to wind on the ZXR's power and can keep up a fair pace....will the litre power throw in the doubt factor...how much throttle etc...thoughts please.. :-)

I went from the 05 636 to an 04 10R..... the speed was well fast enough for me on the 636 and I haven't even been as fast on my 10 as I did on my 636..

Its the delivery of the power thats makes the difference... You have more confortable fun on the 6 but the thou is heart pumping adrenaline fun...

Find the right thou though and do test ride it... I am lucky that my ten isn't much differnet in size from my 636 slightly taller but thats it.... suspension isn't as good as the 636 either (says ZENO)

but still pretty much the same character...

I bought mine with my heart, I didn't test ride or anything , I just wanted a 10 so got one...........go to agree with Glenn on this in that you decide what you want in the end.

As to having to leave, there's no exit and no need to leave at all, it's a site for bikers regardless of what they ride so don't you be running away and if you do chenge bikes get some pics posted so we can all see  thumbu

the diff between the thou and your 6 ,the thou will streer alittle slower ,but you will not spend all day dancing on the gear change ,

and i find all thou sportbikes a piece of piss to ride fast ,no matter were in the rev range you are u will always have drive

just a note on the zx10 ,i find alot of the hipe about being for experts only and bit unfounded, yes you can scare yourself shittless on the 10 (but you can on all thou sportsbikes) or you can just potter around town on it

as for the blade there a cracking bit of kit ,my only criticisum is that electronic damper

The cbr is a much better road bike than the 10R and you'll have heaps of fun (but maybe no license left :D). Sounds like you have convinced yourself so go buy it  thumbu

It wont handle better than the 636, litre bikes rarely outhandle a 600(class) . But that hesd does a great job of calming any headshakes, and it's a model of controllable power. A litre bike tends to arrrive at the corners 15-20mph faster than a 6 so you'll be on the brakes harder which does unsettle a bike on the road.

I like the image the 10R has.... I haven't riden many other bikes so can't comment how good or bad they are.
