Helmet Airbags
« on: November 05, 2007, 11:01:51 AM »

Watched the build up to Valencia MotoGP yesterday and saw action from the 125 (think it was 125 but maybe 250) practice.

One of the riders came off and an inflatable 'neck brace' blew up round his neck.

Surely it could do more harm than good.

If the rider is just sliding along the ground on his back then the 'balloon' touches down it could cause the rider to start flipping over!

I bet they've been working on this for a long time.  I saw a video a couple of days ago, every crash is different but overall this is probably  an asset.
