« on: October 28, 2007, 08:46:59 PM »

well seeing as my track bike has water only in the cooling system and the bike is going to be stored over the winter, im thinking of emptying the system and filling with water/antifreeze again

i can get good stuff from work G12+ free and guess it would be alright but does anyone know of anything better i should use

cheers

if it don't  get cold enough to freeze you still want an inhibitor to prevent corrosion , very important.

you have to run water on a race bike.... you will not get through scruterneering with coolant  :icon_thumright:

coolant is such a slippy liquid, if it was to spill on the track then like oil it would be a pain to clear

Racers use Deironised water in the cooling system as it reduces the amount of corrosion that normal water causes.

If your not going to race the bike Chris then i would run Antifreeze all the time anyway.  :icon_thumright:

antifreeze also helps with cooling   :icon_thumleft:

certainly does by raising the boiling point of the water and even more so when the cooling system is under compression
