wee run on an R6
« on: October 21, 2007, 09:25:15 PM »

well folks to ma mates R6 up to ma mates shop at knockhill (grant racing) and changed the rear spring for a lighter one for him gave it a few runs to set it up a bit n tok it down the road well lucky me say a could have it for today so a took it a wee run(over 200 miles there n back) up to glen coe  ok on way up couple o dap stretches but mainly dry. this is the 1st time in a very long time i`ve spent all day on a 600 its just usualy an hr or so to get e feel for the bike . was kinda weir to start with but real fun once i got to grips with the motor n tyres had a hoot o a time on way up only stoping at tyndrum for fuel then heading up into the glen for sum fotos n a proper balls out run its wide open up here . any way was way colder than a was expecting fucken freezing to be honest so only took the one set of fotos n didn`t bother stopping at the places i`d picked out on way up for fotos . it had started raining n the roads wer a bit greasey so rode through some diferent condition damp , rain , dry ,damp rain ,dry etc etc on way home very impressed with the bike and the dunlop tyres in the changing conditions only time the bike was unsettled was with me not being used to blipping it down n getting the back a bit lively on down changes. how slipper clutches spoil you.
so had a hoot o a time even though the weather turned shitty only coplaint is the slash cut pipe never thought ad say this put it was ok to start with but after 40 miles or so it started to be just a pain just to loud for me (must be getting old) so there you go probably my last runof the year all a have to do now is explain how a wee run clocked up so many miles  [whistle]

:dontknow: jon if it has got one then this one aint working or they are all  shite  this one was stepping out in the dry started blipping down but as thers abit of slack in the twist grip it made it a bit tricky n hit or miss so went back to feathering the clutch like we used to do at the moto x which worked well in the damp stretches  :icon_thumleft:

The road up through Rannoch moor is bloody awesome, some seriously silly speeds up there on the gixxer :D I've been riding my mates sv650 all last week and had to feather the clutch on that due to stupid v twin engine braking. Just have to remember not to use the clutch to place the revs in the powerband as you gas it lol

here's a question, is it better to ride a crap congested road in good weather, or a fantastic empty road in the rain?  :icon_scratch:

don't mind the rain mate as long as the tyres are suitable...... just not the fooking rain and the cold
