your last Brace For Impact moment?
« on: October 11, 2007, 12:48:46 PM »

got a bit feisty with the throttle the other dayon the way to work,  and a small straight i usually cruise down suddenly bacame a hell ofa lot smaller.. unlike the car that came around the corner a tad too close to my side of the road...

had what i like to call a 'brace for impact' moment... you get all tensed up and wait for the BANG!!...yet nothing happens...

i was still shaking with adrenalin couple of hours later...

 :headbang:

so... any of ye have a close call lately?

funny you should say that...

the fog on the way to work this morning was unreal... the droplets were so big they were like rain.. hanging in the air.. well trippy first thing in the morning...

couldnt see more than 50 feet in front... and had to ride to work with my visor up...

odd thing was, i found it really hard to get my breath... not sure if it was the supersaturated air, combined with the speed i was riding at (barely took her over 110) but it was like someone cut off my air supply...

one of my worst was when i got my very first bike...

no training... noone showed me anything..

my brother met me outside my hometown with his old bike, threw me the keys and a lid and showed me where the clutch/brake etc etc was, then climbed into his car n drive off..

very next day i rode 120 miles up to Dublin,..,,. i came around this motorway bend, and because noone had shown me how to lean the bike or countersteer, i went straight on... right into the path of an oncoming articulated lorry...

i shit you not when i say my rear wheel missed the front of the truck by no more than 6 inches...

i would have been paste on the ground

went out on mine on Tuesday and this boy racer tosspot decided to overtake a line of cars on a 'normal road' he simply couldn't judge that I was coming towards him on my side of the road  [wall]  had to slow right down for the knob else I'd have hit him head on  [wall]  young lads in cars thinking they are rally drivers are a huge danger

not a fuck this is going to hurt moment but it could have been if I was going faster

Erm....think the last brace for impact moment was the trackday at silvers when that fuckwit hit my arse end...then the bike fishtailing for a few hundred yard....

Was waiting for the bang, high side, handle bar gymnastics but nothing.  Bike gripped and I carried on being able to make the next bend....

F0000king shit myself though...was a little shaken on returning to the pits!

Had lots of moments though over the years, more so in cars....but that feeling is like nothing else!  That kind off close one eye and start to winch moment....waiting for the  Ouch moment. Then nothing....complete serene silence!  You open ya eyes and realise you've not died, nothing happened and you got away with it once more!  :drunken_smilie:

Brillant! They say you should have one moment everyday that scares you  :icon_puke_r:
