'07 R1 test ride
« on: October 03, 2007, 05:44:56 PM »

Well went out on an '07 R1 today and I must admit I was impressed.

Felt a lot lighter than the ZX was so fookin flickable and held a line round corners like it was on rails

Front brakes jeeeeeeeeeeeesus hitting a brick wall wouldnt stop you any quicker.

Didnt like the throttle responce tho a bit too harsh for my liking....but I suppose you'd get used to it.

Very tempted for next year

But saying that still love the ZX

Awesome bike, one of the only other litre bikes i'd chop the 10R for.

Used to sell Yam's, about 7yrs ago, they were getting a bit better on style and build quality then, but nowadays they've got it spot on. Always liked the R1 ever since they brought out under seat exhausts, good looking bike and good handling straight from the box. But I've got a ZX10R as had a secret fondness of Kawasaki's when I used to work at the bike shop, but couldn't have one as we always sold Yam's and I got 'em at cost. But am glad I bought the 10 as they're an awesome tool and everyride gives me something new and different to discover about the bike which I'm sure the R1 might not in the same way the 10R does :icon_thumright:

had a go on a mates R1 again the other day.... it just don't feel to nice but after about 10 minutes I was getting used to it..... it is easier to ride and easy to ride fast the power is smooth and is a great ride but it don't thrill me....

I have no reason to get rid of my bike at the minute there aint nothing radically better new bikes are not ground braking at the minute and the second they become groundbreaking like the difference between the 9R and the 10R then I will change  :icon_thumleft:

i ride the old r1 99 model has given me a few problems this year? but never the less it is a great bike to ride and the new r1 i took out a few months ago it made me sit up and take a look?
I loved it seemed like it had gone back to the raw power of the earlier models but with the refinments of the new technoligy? even to the case of the 180 mph to 70 round the roundabout backing it in vertualy sideways loved it?
the only thing was it didn't wheelie as well as G's 10r  so that was the only thing that upset me?
otherwise thinking of buying one earlier next year? :icon_thumright: :hello2:

not the bike mate..... we all know its the rider....

I haven't got the right temperament to ride quick on the road like you do.... my mind tells me to let off .... not cause I can take the bend at that speed but because I can't see whats round it  :dontknow:
