do you think..........
« on: September 30, 2007, 11:53:17 AM »

track or road for your kicks?. reason being is that roadriding has lost it's appeal now, find that track time is more of a benefit to getting the most out of the beast. two track days a month seems better than four weekends on the road a month.

undecided.

do most of my riding on road and do enjoy it.
do enjoy it on track aswell.

i do think that if i ever get my track bike i will prob drop the
road riding and do 2 trackdays a month.

but by the time that happens i will be up to 60 years old.

but then again being a trackday pensioner eh.
thats a thought

how big is the ego? track is far safer if it's hard to ride smart on the road. If you  like to impress, knee down, wheelies, screaming round town then head for the track.I'm seeing from both ends, had to go racing in my younger days before I did serious damage, now I can scream around in relative safety; you won't lose your skills in later years,  but you'll get to ride with whats between your ears, not whats between your legs.  Get on the circuits and screw the pants off the thing and have a ball.

Well if you have the road bike at least you can still go on track, doesn't work the other way around (well not legally anyway !), plus you need a road bike to do the 'Ring & TT courses.

Personally whilst tracks are fun, ultimately there's what ? a dozen tracks in the UK ? So that's probably a total of around 100 corners, whereas there's a gazillion & 43 ones out on the roads, so why restrict yourself to such a small subset of what's available when you can have it all ?   :dontknow:

I can understand people giving up road riding to go racing, but just to do trackdays ?  :dontknow:

I really like riding on the road, I even enjoy filtering, it's a whole different mental challenge, me against the cagers & knowing it depends on me correctly reading their intentions - (especially their unintentional intentions !) before they've even decided, makes it a great mental challenge, whilst the knowledge that misreading them is likely to be painful gives it that certain edge.

but you miss understand why I want to do just trackdays..

1 way traffic that is all bikes with safety restrictions.... you can really push it on track and get a great feeling pushing it to the limit I do on the track on the road is just plain stupid..... road doesn't satisfy me like track does....

All I think of on the road is curb, bush, fence, car, lamp post, copper etc etc etc its losing its appeal cause I have had a very close mate recently have a very close call.... I don't want that to be me :-(

broken legs and arms 5 broken ribs punctured lung internal bleeding just to name but a few injuries.... they say he won't be able to use one of his hangs again....
