The KX250J story so far...........
« on: November 22, 2006, 03:22:17 PM »

Work underway on KX
KX is stripped and engine comes out tonight to get the sump helicoiled, discussed it with the local m-x shop guy and he reckons just helicoil it and don't bother to strip the cases as it's only a small bit of ally swarf in the gearbox so nothing to worry about, sounds good to me.

Rear shock is dead for sure to the point of being dangerous (crack in the base bracket) it wasn't a KX shock, what joy. The shock was so poor that it had smashed the rubber bung on the rod to pieces !!!!

Throttle was sticking badly and had been put together incorrectly, now cleaned and sorted so it 'snaps' back just like it needs to

Swing arm bushes are very worn so will be replaced if I can remove the strnage castle type swing arm spindle nut

Top yoke was loose

Chain and sprockets are realy really bad so need replacing

Good things about KX

Excel rims and new spokes are in top condition

Exhaust is in great condition

Engine sounds ok thankfully

Rads have been rebuilt

Head bearings seem good

'Fatbars' are a nice touch t

It's apparently got a new clutch and basket, I'll check it though

I know what you mean about the throttle Andy.

I went from wringing the neck of a 03 RM 125 to not being able to properly ride my 05 KX 250 for the power difference.
