Trackers
« on: September 06, 2007, 01:57:36 PM »

I've long wondered weather I should fit a tracker to my bike, and whether I would really want it back after it's been molested...

Anyway, someone we know came out of his house in London yesterday morning to find his shiny new bike missing. His bike does have a tracker fitted, but the tracking system failed to send him a text alert as it is supposed to. He immediately tried to log on to the tracking site to see where his bike was, online to find the site down. He sent this update today:

"Sorry for the delayed update! No luck as yet, but we had some progress. You'll all probably find this next bit really frustrating, I know I do!

Basically we got a GPS locate from the bike at around 4pm yesterday this pointed us to http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...&t=k&z=19&om=1

I went down with a mate, and met the tracker people there, but they couldn't pinpoint anything via their RFID hand held trackers. The police were also there but unfortunately as we couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was, we couldn't get them to open anything

Here are the places we think it might be in (you can get to this area from the road, there is an underpass under the houses):

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...wloc=addr&om=1 (this is a steel shed - most suspect in terms of blocking RF!)
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...wloc=addr&om=1
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...wloc=addr&om=1

So frustrating, we know the area but not exactly where! And it's probably moved now"

Note the white van parked next to the shed!

the insure on the 10 is cheaper than my zed was , due to the fact 10's are not stolen that often ,so i was told
,,, britians worse bike to insure is the Blade , [rofl]  like i said earlier   most bikes are nicked to order ,and these ppl know how to deal with any alarm /tracker ,im sure once found a quick blow from a sledge hammer, would take care of any alarm /tracker  :-(
