Had an awsome day Friday
« on: September 01, 2007, 11:25:14 PM »

Did a trackday at Llandow, with a group of Fazers, a group of Cars & all the rest in the Fast group which is where my name was put down.

First session was pants and I felt out of my depth, bounced over some kerbs into and out of the bustop so I came back in.

Manic 636 gave me a few pointers about changing my braking into the bustop which I tried in the second session and it made it so much better.  One of the other lads came past me with sparkly sliders on and I thought I'd follow him around as best I could and hey presto, I got my knee down.

Shit myself first of all cos I ddidn't know what it was, then the smile arrived and I couldn't wait for the session to end so that I could check out all the damage to the slider.  Lightly scuffed at best but I was really happy.

During the next session I managed to get my knee down on every corner on the track apart from the 2 little lefts where I knew it wasn't going to happen.

Even got to the point where I was grinding the pegs on the tarmac, so I thought "Maybe that's over far enough"  [rofl]

Had a few more tips about gear selections and braking points into corners which helped no end and increased my pace from session to session.

It turned out to be an excellent day and by the end of it I didn't feel to far off the pace of the average riders in the group.  There were still a few riders out there that were running rings around me, but I'd only done 3 sessions on a track before this one, so overall I have been walking around with a big grin for the weekend.

Oh and did I mention
I Got my Knee Down

Iceman you not done it yet? I naturally thoughtthat as you did Glen's circuit you were a knee down god. You need to attend Glen's school of knee down, a couple of laps and I had it.  :icon_thumright:

Cheers lads, the track is very small, but so much fun.

Jon, I went out for a run yesterday and felt loads more confident riding through corners, knowing that "Yes the bike does go over further and you will make it around the corner" and that's also down to the fact that I've changed the way I slow down as well so the bike is more settled when it's tipping in.

It was funny watching the cars going around, especially this old banger with  a diesel engine  [rofl]
