Newbie in Devizes, Wilts
« on: August 30, 2007, 08:37:55 AM »

I'm still quite new to this ZX10 malarky, so've got plenty of SFQ's I'm afraid !

Anyway, to introduce myself. I'm 39 years old and back on a bike after a 3 year break. Up to 2003 I went through a few bikes - GSXR 750, R1, ZX12R, SP-1, another R1, K3 GSXR 1000 etc (the point is I'm no Born Again, DAS, last bike was a CB400/4 or anything like that !). I highsided the K3 in 2003 and went on a steep decline thinking sensible was best. So I bought an RR2 Blade, then finally hit the depths with a 1150GS and gave up altogether. Buts its in your blood isn't it ?

I bought my ZX10R at the end of June this year, its a 2007 model, green  :hello2:  and I got it secondhand with 500 miles on it. So far I've added an MRA DB screen, a seat cowl and - green wheel stripes  :emb:

I've added about 700 miles to it so far (I don't ride in the rain anymore - been there, done that !!) and love it. The nearest thing I've got to compare it to is the GSXR1000 I had, and whilst the ZX doesn't feel as crisp low down, its literally bucket loads stronger everywhere else and handles like a much smaller bike.

We've only been in Devizes for 3 mainly bikeless years, so just trying to find the good routes at the moment and taking it easy while I readjust to bikes again. Oh, and I got a 21 day ban in 2006 for speeding in my car so I err on the side of caution these days - I'm no A road Rossi wannabee.

I'll search the forum and then post my SFQ's if I still can't find the answers !

Thanks for the welcome folks !

Nice to know there are some good roads in Wilts - I just need to find them ! We lived in Basingstoke for a while - smooth roads, fast dual carriageways, loadsa roundabouts - mmmm. An early morning blast before the traffic (and Plod) woke up was great   :icon_thumleft:

An early morning blast round Devizes meets tractors, mud and dead badgers/foxes/deer in the middle of the road   (still wouldn't move back though !).
