yeah i know mate, just think the worry is not needed thats all

the rear tyre is under extra strain cornering and under acceleration

and as you accelerate the rear suspension expands and the pressure has to go to the rear tyre so its got to flex

thats what i think anyway lol

Yeah i think your right.

Rear suspension compresses under load.

rear suspension actually expands under acceleration mate

i used to think the same mate

a lad i work with is a californian superbike school insructor and enlightened me to the fact it actually expands and doesn't compress

knowing me tho i've prob got this wrong too lool

:icon_scratch: So where does the term "the rear end squats under acceleration"....ive always been led to believe that the backend compresses under load?

Eh :icon_scratch: I'd love to know how that works.  Are you talking about physics of the bike or actual workings of the rear suspension. :dontknow:

quoted from superbike school instructor  [pray]

the rear suspension extends under acceleration, try starting to do a burnout is the best way to prove it, but when corning the cornering forces are trying to compress the rear, so accelerating optimises the suspension and also increases ground clearance

Yeah can see the burnout side of things but you are applying the front brake and the forces have no choice but to push up!
Cornering is a whole different kettle of fish,as you said when cornering the suspension is compressed so will the rear tyre which is what glenn was worried about....its all good stuff physics!!

yeah when corning the suspension is under compression but not when accelerating while cornering

the burn out thing emphesises the rear lifts because of the rear tyre rotation take the front brake away and it would still lift

Try to get him to explain it fully in physics terms so we can try and understand it better. I'm very interested.

think its one of those common misconceptions that the rear sinks when accelerating

also read in a while ago in one of those wheelie guides lol

Rear squats under acceleration = compression :dontknow:

how can it expand  :dontknow:
