As Peter is struggling to get the hang of the forum at the minute I thought I'd post up his intro here, I'm sure he'll add to it shortly

Welcome Peter  :occasion14:

From Peter

I live on a sailboat and have spent the last 22 years in the Caribbean sort of cut off from the real world. Now I'm in the Azores and will probably stay here. I've just bought a 2004 zx10r and found your site whilst looking for information about the bike, mods etc.I've been around bikes since I was 13(47 years) and i'm looking forward to riding again. I raced for 10 years before retiring and getting into sailing. one of my bikes was anH2R with a works engine in a rob north frame(like they used with the bsa and triumph 3s,that was an exciting animal, air cooled 2strokes were about the most dangerous of all. I'm finding it a little difficult to navigate around the site, I'm on a VERY slow connection, a page change takes about 30secs........

Regards Peter

Hello again, well it's easy when you know how!!!! so I'm about to be a biker again, it's been a few years. Didn't have too much choice here, not many bikes, mostly dirt bikes and a few 600sports  but I really fell for the 10r when i rode it. really keeps your attention. It has no mods at the moment, not sure what the tyres are but they are new and will have to stay. It sounds like a steering damper may be a good investment. When I get it an oil change is first , does anyone KNOW whats best, full synthetic or semi? How about fork oil. I'm trying to download the manual but not sure it's going to work. I've been turning wrenches for 44 years so tech stuff is good. the bike seems pretty good as it is, I hope it's here soon. Will keep you all informed

peter if your have trouble with the manual I can post you a copy on disk  :icon_thumleft:

the bike is a great bike.... I have Ohlins oil in my forks...

as for a damper it depends how happy you want to get with your right hand , but its safe to say its a good investment  :icon_thumleft:

nice to see you've sussed how to post Peter  :icon_thumright:

Like Glenn says a damper is always a sound investment really, I'd say most run semi synthetic oil but no idea from me on fork oil sorry  :dontknow:

The 10R is an awesome bike, do you have good roads over there then ?
