earthquake in peru
« on: August 16, 2007, 06:11:04 PM »

You might of heard on the news that peru was hit by an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the ricter scale. Thing is my mother-in-law (Mrs EXJ's mum) and partner are currently travelling the length of south america on a XT600 (they've also travelled from Dunstable to India,  north west Africa and through Iraq,  Jordan.....well the list is endless) They were only 100 miles from where the earthquake struck and we got a phonecall from her this afternoon to tell us they were okay, She reported that she thought they were gonna die, the most frightning thing they've experienced. Apparently there was a mud built church where the quake was that was full of people and that collapsed killing everyone so bang goes my faith in god. The worrying thing is they have no water as the quake has cut the supply off and they need a new rear tyre and were going to get one in peru's capital. We're just waiting to hear what they're gonna do next.  :dontknow:

At least they called mate and you know they are ok.

My missus was in Turkey last August when the bomb went off and I couldn't get hold of her, so had to ring the embassy to check that she wasn't on the list of casulties.

They were on the Dolma that was blown up the day before and knew nothing of it till the day after it had happened.
