Is there so such thing as a ......
« on: July 18, 2007, 10:07:56 PM »

Knee down tyre......

so as its kind of before payday I needed a stop gap to be able to carry on riding my bike..... so called up me local tyre guy and ask if he had any scrubs... no such luck but he did have 2 almost new BT014's ......  Well I thought 50 quid fitted you can't go wrong so got them on.... have a decent ride and well the tyres have great stabilty but lack the real lean confidence  :dontknow: back from alton I hit the circuit and on the first left hander and misses the entrance so I piled a bit of power on and I touched but the bike lifted..... I though fook this whats going on I must of took it wrong, so anyway I tried it again and come in a bit faster leant in and again missed the start piles on the power and pow touch on the exit all the way out..... so all in all an ok tyre but I am glad I am not using them for silverstone...

I am gonna check the tyre pressure tomorrow when they are cold and maybe let them down if they are too high , I should of ask the tyre guy what he set them to  [wall]

roll on pay day and a set of Super corsa's  :icon_thumright:

014's grippy enough and give reasonable feedback.
Getting on the gas will cause the rear to squat, hence the late touchdown

Squat is the rear suspension compressing (causing the bike to "squat down" when you get on the gas). This is due to the pivot point position in relation to the torque effect applied by the chain

Yessum, don't get snatchy with the throttle or you'll cause the bike to see-saw. When you are hard on the gas , that should be after the apex and you should be standing the bike up by then.

You'd be surprised, i've had fronts inflated as high as 50psi by some so-called tyre specialists!

Glen sorry to change sublect slightly. On Sunday you said how you love 'banging' the throttle open. I tried it yesterday coming home from work. Lent forward so front wouldn't lift second gear and wacked the throttle to the stop fook me . I just found a new dimensin to the bike. I used to roll throttle quickly but smoothly not open it like a switch.

Once again..... fook me new dimensin to the bike,
