still conventional but surely it's the replacement for standard mobile calls reducing cost  :dontknow:

I've heard of it and heard some saffas use it but I thought Skype had taken off and was bigger. The internet 'phone' had problems as it's only as good as your connection speed and used to hang etc.

I still use messanger pigeons and smoke signals.

skype has better marketing and people like brands but "SIP" is norm ans skype uses its own protocol so can't call between sip and skype for free  :dontknow:

which is stupid if every one got on sip then everyone call call for free (or how evermuch there internet charges for the download)  :icon_thumright:

erm.... ok I can give you a number through work if you want to keep it easy..... cost for the number is a pound a month..... other costs are here..

http://aa.nu/aa/voip/ all sip calls using the sip address for example I have a sip address or

myext@myserveraddress which would look like this

sip:2002@81.187.11.27

obviously if you make normal calls they will be charge at the rates above......  B-)

:downtown:  :icon_scratch: yes there is that..... but what you could use it for is your incoming Dandy hotline...  :icon_thumright:

and for sip calls

use you mobile inclusive minutes for call mobiles

and you BT phone free minute for calling landlines  :tongue3:

this is what I do :-P

once you persuade all your friends to go on SIP free sip calls.......

My ( I am saying this at the risk of a big slagging ) indian call centre runs on VOIP from a UK POP.  Over a WAN though and not the internet.

I have BT total broadband at home and use the white phone...  Works fine. :icon_thumright:

Yeah I've used VoIP when I was working for my last company - enabled spot on comms from anywhere in the world as long as we had a V-Sat dish :icon_thumright:

I use Skype, but am not too impressed with it tbh, especially when you are calling from overseas on some of the dodgy isp providers there.

I'm like Andy, I have BT, BT broadband and mobile dogs all over the shop and it's a real mare trying to remember to use which phone and when  [wall] [wall]
