Virgin lost twice today
« on: July 05, 2007, 09:18:47 AM »

First ride in over a week and I thought I would test the theory of top speed in 1st gear being 105mph. I saw 104 before limiter kicked in.
Second thing was a slightly more than gentle but not full tank slapper at around 100 fooking bumby B roads and the tar is rippled from trucks breaking and I had to over take a Porsche and went over ont the ripples. Luckily I was expecting it and thanks to the Ohlins dampener doing it's job.

Here's a question and I'm sure I know what most of you are going to answer, How many of you actually redline it before a gear change ?

very rare to redline mine, the power tails before the redline so there's just no point anyhow. I ofter see my little orange light at 11k and then change up about then if I'm after some serious speed.

I once did the 100mph in first and then when I changed to second it was so silly it was brilliant, have to admit that I don't use 1st a lot, I shortshift into second and use the power there instead  :icon_thumright:

Mine is set to 14,500.   Oops forgot to reset it after tracking it a few weeks ago, it's usually at 12500 though.

I quite often open it up in 1st - not taken it up over 100 in first yet, get to about 95ish and then think 'perhaps I should change up now'  [whistle] .  Makes me giggle every time.  My shift light is set to 11,500 and I do get it coming on every now and again.  Not red lined it though

You gotta try it but try change just before the limiter kicks in as it feels like you're going to go over the bars as the bike stutters.
