More than likely, and you may have the password remembered so you don't need to put it in all the time.  I have a couple of sites like that and then forget that others can't see everything.

no it usually means on the local execution can view it so it you have a image linked on a webpage then it will view in the web page then if you try and view it direct it won't let you...
