NIP question

guys,any of you know a way of getting  off a NIP speeding ticket.a friend of mine got caught by a crafty mobile camera.i have heard somewhere that if you go look on the web site they give you,that is enough proof to do you.however i dont know if its true but if you dont answer to the NIP they cant do you.any input from you guys will be appreciated.

I have heard if you ignore it , it may go away... depend on how serious i.e how fast  :dontknow:

If you check the website they can do you so dont do that.

I just ignore them straight from the off and so do my friends and family after my advice. Once over 6 months old they cannot do you for them.

I used to do the no sign way too and that worked.

If it arrived within 14 days of the offence, you may as well pay it. There used to be a loophole where you could get off if you didn't sign it but that is now gone. You also used to be able to reply to the NIP with a document off Pepipoo, but a very recent European court ruling has effectively made that illegal too. The only way to challenge a NIP now is to challenge the device that was used if it was a LTi20/20 - however this involves court appearances and will depend on who rules over the case and what mood they are in.

I've done a fair bit of research and have decided to just pay it and take the points  :mad:

It's not that I don't believe you... From what I've been able to find out, ignoring it only works in some places (depends on which Safety Camera Partnership you fall under). For me it isn't worth the risk for other reasons.

How can getting off with it not be worth the risk,they could only take you to court at the end of the day anyway.

I've heard the ignore it one too.  From a CPS lawyer friend of mine!  They advised me to fill in the form and sign it, photocopy it (for your records) and then simply don't send any of it back......

Ignore it for as long as possible and you will eventually get a summons......go to court brandishing your copy of the letter.....just ask them "Why am I here I sent this back months ago and the next thing I get in the post is a summons???"......takes some balls but apparently the court system is so overloaded that most of these don't get to court within the 6 months requirement........you can demonstrate that you responded and your letter was just "lost" in the postal system......sorry to have troubled you sir case dismissed..........

Like I said takes a lot of balls........worst case is you get copped for the points and fine anyway......you have your photocopied "evidence" that you tried to plead guilty months ago.......strictly you are perjuring yourself, however, they have no way of proving this becasue they can't prove your letter wasn't lost in the post.

Err....I'm obviously making all this up and do not in fact know any CPS lawyers.....however....the "imaginary" lawyer in question says they see this at least once every 2 weeks.........

Never just cop for it.  The system only works because it relies on everyone incriminating themselves.  If everyone ignored them and waited for the summons the courts would just overload and the whole thing would collapse.  Ignoring it is the best way to go.....once you enter into letters back and forth you are acknowledging it and they will follow up......just wait for the Summons.......chances are it won't come in time
