Need to get this off my chest / near Off
« on: June 14, 2007, 11:09:00 PM »

Hi folks,

Nearly had an off in fact f--k knows how i stayed on and how im sitting here now. Been home a while now just calming down,

Just done some work on the bike and fitted my tail tidy, thought i would go for a short spin and fill her up,

Was out on the A36 love the bypass nice and fast and quiet this time of night, got to end of bypass thought id carry on a bit further,

ended up on the road across Salisbury Plain, again quiet , i know the road inside out so i know the bad areas,

anyway came out of chitterne hammered up the hill nice fast right hander, and OMG a tractor half way across the road stopped with trailer.

i was heading for the trailer.....................

i had to get the bike up fast, i hit the brakes hard  (panicking) and the bike lifted fast, i was now heading for the front of the tractor, i closed my eyes didnt want to see me hit the thing,

i missed it , my arm hit the headlight  passed under the raised bucket and straight in the field, throttle was off brakes off and fuck knows how but the bike stayed straight,

it finally stopped in the field. I couldt get off i was frozen to the bike.

few peeps stopped and got the bike and me sorted out. my mate rode it back i got a lift.

Main thing is im fine / bikes seems ok just full of grass and shite, will check it over friday night.

First  ever balls up , God is smiling on me thank f--k

yes, take it easy guys, it's all too easy to take a fall , really glad to hear that you are ok  :icon_thumright:

In my younger years I recall racing along a country lane on my GPZ900 and then cam across a tractor travelling at 10mph with a combine unit on the back, basically an array of fekking spikes. I thought that I was never going to stop and that it was all over for me, fortunately I stopped with little room to sapre, there was no room to get past it

A scare is a horrible think but does make you sit back and think about the fact that there are real dangers, the great thing about the site is that you can share it with others so we can all rethink about how safely we ride etc, sometimes there's not a lot you can do to be any safer, you must still be shaking there fella

glad to hear that you are basically ok   :icon_thumright:

I know that road well Tron, it's a belter usually. There's often some gravel at the left hander at the  bottom of the hill coming out of chitterne, where there's a farm turning. Glad you're ok !

I can feel my heart beating faster just reading this!  I am sooo glad you are OK. This type of accident is my worst fear when I go out with the boys, because there is very little you can do by the time you have figured out what is happening. Afterwards blame can be attributed all over the place, but that won't undo the accident.

On a side note - I recently did a "first bike on the scene" first aid course just in case this happens to one of us, or we come across an accident. To anyone that does fast group riding on the roads - GO DO THIS COURSE! You could save a friends life.

Sounds like a bit of a close call. Thank goodness you are ok though.  Once you've checked the bike over and got all the crap cleaned off it, get yourself back out there and get re-aquainted again  B-)

Fridayman - like Andy says, have you got the contact info for the 'first on the scene' first aid course, sounds like a good thing to do  :icon_thumright:

Save a contact in your mobile called ICE (In Case of Emergency) - the emergency services know to check for it.
