Maybe not so funny -I am just on a high with the TEN at the mo and BMWs are SO far from the spirit of the big K as to be almost NOT motorbikes at all

Absolutely - I know they are proper  'real world' fast road bikes but .......so big and refined and sanitised and easy to ride and comfy and reliable and respected and great resale value and well built and .... shit I want a bike that screams Fuck Off this is a bike that'll kill ya laddie... type of thing, the BM will do for me after Ive got it all out of my system.

so just straight to the battery and an inline fuse thingy ans that's it    looks nice and simple to me, I might do the same if I decide to take a long trip, thanks pal

I'd be tempted to take it from a switched feed. There's usually 1 spare in the fusebox

Yes Andy, just as you said.  I'm using a 3 amp fuse inline which I've also put with enough slack on it so that I can change a fuse without taking the plasitcs off again.  So when I pull the charger the inline fuse is about 6 inches behind it with about 4 inches of extra cable on it.  The fuse physically sits underneath the lighter unit.  I'll take a better pic of it later to show.

I did think of it, however if I want to charge my phone whilst on a coffe stop then I would also need to leave the ignition on as well so that's why I took  it straight from the battery and I can leave the phone to charge under the pillion seat.

I see where you're coming from Ian. You could always get one of those wind-up chargers, improve your wrist action while you had a brew

Nah not a phone Glenn. I wouldn't leave a laptop plugged in overnight though. Or a kettle. Or an iron or a hoover or a 3 bar electric fire
