Wiring on a car cigarette lighter ?
« on: June 06, 2007, 06:59:33 PM »

Can someone confirm that the positive feed on a cigarette/in car charger goes to the centre of the module.

I've got all the bits to put one on my bike so that I can charge my gizzmos as I go.

I know, I know, you shouldn't put one on a sports bike, but I do use mine for all purposes all year around so I need to have a form of charging my TomTom, Phone, iPod, boil the kettle, run the Playstation etc etc etc.

Cheers in advance for the advice.

Aye, I'm sure that the 'sensible' bikes have them but what about kids on scoots with Ipods/phones etc and it wouldn't be a huge job to throw one on a sports bike so you can travel and still charge your phone, ipod etc (if camping your stuffed really)  :dontknow:

Wow, didn't expect that it would be a good idea as well.

Thanks guys, have got a multimeter, so will go into the garage and have a bodge.

I'm doing a bit of camping next weekend and even though I'll have access to the mains electricity I'd rather have the phone charging under the seat locked away than leave it in a garage for an hour and the bonus is that the smae Nokia charger is used for the GPS device as well so I only need to carry one charger for the 2 items  :icon_thumright:

I might strip a USB cable fro work down and adapt that to fit the charger as well so I can then charge my iPod with the supplied USB cable that comes with it.
