Anyone know why portable generators have this weird spark plug cap? I'm looking to replace mine with a decent NGK one but cannot get a sensible answer on why they're different...

No more than ease of pulling off and pushing on mate i guess, some people would ignorantly pull the lead itself on more conventional cap causing issues.
