Where to source a number plate

(1/2) > >>

BOP Leader:
Just wondering where you guys are buying them.

How much hassle do you get from the law if the plate is under legal size?

maddog:
Internet/ebay

If you use a small plate you cant really complain if you get stopped and given a ticket. I cant remember what the std size plate is....but think its something like 9x7....ive used an inch less since riding and never been stopped...8x6 via ebay.

Ive seen plates as small as a mars bar before but no idea how hot the police are with them!

NinjaPaul:
There is no actual legal requirement over the size of the plate, only for the size and spacing of the characters and also to have the plate manufacturers details and BSAU number at the bottom.

So the size of plate can be dependant on the reg number and how many characters it has. 9"x7" just happens to be the nearest size plate to fit current reg numbers with 7 characters.

There's no requirement for the makers details if it's older than the rule change.
The rules are "stroke width" "character height " "character width " " character spacing" "line spacing" "border"

5 characters gets you a 7x5"  [whistle]
