sbs pads are rubbish
« on: May 28, 2016, 07:59:40 PM »

My gen4 standard pads were fantastic. Great feel and great power but they were getting low so i thought id get some sbs sintered pads.
Ive tried the dual carbon before but on the road they were rubbish unless hot.
On track they lacked feel.
Put these sbs sintered in and new motul 600 brake fluid.
They seemed to work okish.
Not much different to standard except they are very noisey when being used and even not being used they noisey!
So i did 100 miles on road to run them in before my track day at snetterton.
Now im a fairly quick rider but im quite heavy at 14.5 to 15 stone in weight so i always seem to get brake issues and my late braking style doesnt help matters.
But the pic below was after 1 shortened session where i got 3 flying laps.
The lever was right back to the bar as i was finishing the lap.
In the pits i changed the pads and noticed the calipers were red hot.
I then refitted the standard pads and they were fantastic straight away. Hardly any fade and great feel again. Buyers beware!
3 flying laps = burnt pads

SBS sintered for me no issues, gen 3. Was going to dual carbon next as I do seem to eat them for breakfast and my mate uses dual carbon and they seem to last longer.

Strange you are having issues with them?

Normally run in inters or fast group with no problems...  :icon_scratch:

Well i do brake very late and hard but my point is if standard tokico pads can cope with it then pads labelled as race pads shouldnt do this after 3 laps

Agreed, just saying that in my experience they have been good and you may want to tAke a look at your se up as I can't see these pads being that bad. Only fpdifference I find over OEm is initial bite is excellent and feel is another level over OEM.

Have you been out since changing them on a new set, all good I hope  :icon_thumright:

That is very strange to see, i've used these sbs sinter on track before too and never seemed to fade or struggle at all.

Like you a very late, trail braking style and doing low 40s at cadwell so right up in the fast group.

Maybe you got some from a dodgy batch mate!

I got a refund and yes maybe it was a dodgey batch but it has put me off buying any more.
