Close shave.

I got stopped 3 years back for a spot check by a squeek and three piglets out on a training session but I didnt know it at the time. thought I was banned.
Bald rear - squeek said wisely to his trainees "it's fine - these tyres dont have grooves in the middle'
No rear brake light - Me " aw bloody hell your kidding ! its the vibes that kill the bulbs"
No TAX disc (straight up) - "where I visit for me job its rough and the kids nick 'em so I keep it in me pocket" -then I showed it to them so fair enough
Speedo was in KPH (JAP import) and they missed that.
Then said thanks and off I went !!!!!!!!!!!

Morale - Ive had me 9 lives so now I always try to keep the bike legal.

Yep, B all the way!

I did that once in a car in my rather stoned youth.  Driving along a dark quiet country road (that I grew up racing bikes and cars on) on way home after a night of Jackie Chan and spliff. On coming car kept flashing me and was getting on my tits, so I wound the window down. Initiated the two finger salute and mouthed a rather undisguisable "F**K OFF WANKER!".  Low and behold, local T5 cop car driven my old mate PC DickF**k!  Great...then realised the reason for flashing me was I'd left my lights on main beam and he probably couldn't see f**k all.  Bugger....Bugger...Bugger... Blue lights, brakes on and saw his reverse lights on come.  So I nailed it, don't think I'd ever driven that road so fast.  Knew a nearby turn off, checked the distance, Lights off, engine off, hide behind bush!  He drove past at a rate of knots..  I simply pulled out went the very very very long way round back home!

No defence for me really, shouldn't have been slightly stoned and should have noticed my lights on full beam. But its a fight or flight moment and I took the flight option rather than risk some patronising pigknob telling me about due care and attention. Then asking me if I'd been drinking, another pointless breatherlyser (this was long before drugs tests) and him giving me another producer to add to the 5 I already had.  Those coppers love 18 year old SRI drivers!

Oh well....you took B and got away with it!  But would avoid your favorite road for a bit me thinks!  Time to practice some others...

Chaps, since the new owner of my bike is coming to collect on Saturday, I've been out on my ZX every hour getting the last out of it. Two nights ago, I hit the very problem which is the source of the thread except I was on a well -known Scottish motorway, just come off a sliproad and, seeing the way ahead clear, I nailed it. I was doing roughly 160 when they passed me in the opposite lanes and I could tell that they were aghast. Anyway, I saw in my mirror 'the blues' so they were definitely in pursuit. So, I pinned it further and nipped off at the next exit and into the countryside.

Been shitting myself ever since and waiting for the knock. Mind you, my plate is small(ish) and angled upwards in such a way that it would be difficult for them to read it, taking into account that our combined speeds were probably over 230mph and that their eyesight was not THAT great, plus all the  road Armorall in the way.

The guy that bought my bike, he's heading to the TT on it so if any of you guys see my bike there, it's not me on it. (sob)

I'm half-hoping he comes to collect and doesn't buy it on the basis of the small scratch on the tail. Hmmm, might make it a bigger scratch......

I'm from the school of 'once a biker; always a biker' so I view it a temporary absence. I'm really hoping to work away around things before Saturday. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to say 'sorry mate- here's your deposit back'. Unless my wife dies in a mysterious accident or I win the Lottery, it look like it's going. Boo!

Needs must and all that.

Anybody else thought of mounting a hinge and a solenoid to the palte so when little piggies are flashing their little blue things you can hit a button and plate lifts up out of sight when passed you can release button and it drops. I think I'll speak to our tech guys at work and see if I can get one bodged up.

It's one thing to do a runner (sorry officer, I didn't realise you were following me...), but those plate things are considered to be perverting the course of justice (or summat like that) which could mean jail time! Would be pretty sh!t to get pulled for a noisy exhaust and they see that thing.

some use the excuse that its to hide the plate for track days ... doesn't wash with me.... you know you get of less it you break a tiny bit of your number plate off and you screw it in as if you have lost it that you do riding with a small plate..... no fine and no problem.... they can't actually do anything cause as far as you was aware it was there when you went out it must or been crack and come of or something officer ... I will go straight home (the long way) and get a new one  :tongue3:

This thread reminds me of the wheelie escape I witnessed a few months ago.  A guy on a old blade did a 1 wheelied salute only to realise a cop car stood in traffic (it was dark) at some lights. This guy took option B as well fookin loooooon  [whistle]
