Well in anticipation of a very strict examination of my bike, I removed the tail-tidy and refit the original number plate holder, and also fitted the dB killers to the Yoshimura race system and decided to chance it. If it fails, I'll have no option than to strip it down and fit the standard exhaust. So I turned up at 11am today, after producing the paperwork for the process, I took it to the emissions area. Emissions were fine, next the noise test. I don't know where they place the microphone at track-days, but the tester placed it 1m to the side of the end of the can. It read 91.2dB at 5450rpm, which under Spanish rules would be a fail. However, he pointed out that because the VIN plate says it can be 100dB at 5450rpm, they will pass it. Next, they weighed and measured the bike, took photos and a charcoal rubbing of the frame number, tested the brakes, gave me a bollocking for using too much silicone, and issued me with a 2 year pass. The whole process took 90 minutes and cost €109. Next, I have to pay my taxes for the bike, then go to Traffico who will notify DVLA that the bike is now Spanish, issue me with papers and a registration number and that's it.
