Number plate legislation, trying to be legal!

I have a 5 digit reg on my bike.

As far as I'm aware and I could be wrong the plate size is not what matters it's the font, character sizing and spacing which have a legal requirement.

If a particular police officer is too lazy to know the law and just wants to simply  measure your plate and then say it's illegal I would seriously challenge him as I think there is a very good chance he is wrong.
