ZX10r installed in side car outfit or race car
« on: May 30, 2015, 06:41:45 AM »

Hi all, I'm brain picking, has inybody any info or installed a ZX10r in a sidecar outfit or race car?
as there is need to sit lower in the chassis its normal to cut down the sumps, the next problem to solve is oils surge caused by higher g cornering throwing oil to one side of the sump, there are dry sump conversions for GSXR's anything available for Kwaka's
The road bike ecu has a power reduction in the lower gears (ignition retard?) and a rev limit in 6th gear, any info to remove these? with GSXR's it is done by insertion of resistors of a particular value into the wiring harness.
Cheers

They fit a modded sump but reoute the crankcase breather through a oil catch tank feed by the reed valves and modify the plate inside the crankcase, the ECU is flashed to specific use!

Thanks Michael,
Any more info on the modded sump? I have used modified zzr1100's with cut down sumps for many years in a race car, but think it's time to move on, it is a requirement to connect breathers to a catch tank.
Cheers

im sorry mate i dont know where you can source a flat sump from but its essential to get the engine lower in the outfit the motorcycle deep sump isnt needed as it dont lean, the crankcase mod requires you to split the case let me know if your going to do this. You could try some of the sprint forums for more info :icon_thumright:

I have mailed 4 people this morning to see if anybody is making a dry sump kit for the ZX10r, I am familiar with the the West Engineering system for GSXr's and had a good look at it, but have not found anybody with an off the shelf system for the ZX yet?
Thanks everybody

I found the maker of the dry sump system used in ZX10R powered F1 side cars, all that remains is to sell off my ZZR1100 engines and find a written off donor ZX10
