Van for TDs?
« on: March 14, 2015, 07:30:27 PM »

What vans do you use to get your bikes to tracks? Im after the smallest decent van as a replacement for my car as a daily driver and the odd track day

Any suggestions?

Vivaro has the lowest floor for loading, drives like a car and if driven sensibly is as good on fuel as most cars. We travelled to Spain with two bikes in the LWB vivaro, riding gear, paddock stands, compressor, generator etc, etc. There are downsides to them. The gearbox oil has a service interval which most people ignore and then moan when the gearbox fails. Clutches are hydraulic, and if they aren't bled regularly, they can give the symptons that the clutch is going. My van has just covered 100,000 miles, original gearbox, original clutch. I also have a Movano MWB, which is higher, 4" wider, but is less refined for day to day use.

VW T4/5 Transporters are good and drive well but they are horrendously over priced just because they are a Volkswagen. I'd go for a Mercedes Vito
