Chinese fairing review
maddog:
I made the leap of faith and brought a set of chinese fairings for the Gen 1 from ebay.
Here's a quick review of them. Hopefully this will help make your minds up on if its worth a punt or not
I went for the Simon Andrews Maxxis Kawasaki ones .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOO-Brand-NEW-ABS-Bodywork-Fairing-For-ZX-10R-04-05-2004-2005-2-Offer-Available-/400782716706?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5d5082ef22]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOO-Brand-NEW-ABS-Bodywork-Fairing-For-ZX-10R-04-05-2004-2005-2-Offer-Available-/400782716706?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5d5082ef22]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOO-Brand-NEW-ABS-Bodywork-Fairing-For-ZX-10R-04-05-2004-2005-2-Offer-Available-/400782716706?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5d5082ef22
They cost £285 and i had to pay £31 customs. They took 16 days from purchase to being delivered to me
They were well packaged with foam sheets wrapping each item
The quality of the paint looks pretty good.
The green is much brighter than the ebay pics suggest which is good. I have a black tank i plan to spray the same green however i dont know how much of a match it is to oem green until i get them next to another bike
The only negatives ive found so far is 1 item was slightly damaged. Ive glued it back on and its not in an area that will be seen as the mid section goes over it
And the finish around a few of the mounting points is not great, but i dont think they will be seen when fitted
Ive not had time to try and fit them yet but will update when i do, hopefully next week sometime
Chappo:
They don't look too bad mate for the money,
Look forward to seeing them on the bike tho, :icon_thumright:
maddog:
Cheers Chappo, hopefully by the end of next week. I want to strip as much of the bike as possible and give it a good clean up before i fit them
seddo:
I bought a set last year and found the fitting a pain. Top front and rear wasnt too bad but the belly pan was touching the exhaust even with the heat tape. I had to make a bracket so i could use side stand as interfered alot. But in the end the bike did look great. I like the paint job you have chosen
maddog:
I spent an hour out with the bike today so will give you a quick update.....
They are not straight forward to fit lol [wall] [wall]
Im only loose fitting as i plan to strip and rebuild the bike
From the front it looks ok. The fittings are not the right ones, they were just used to hold it in place. I need to stick something on the underside of the nose to hold it flush against the light
Side on looks ok. This is without the sidestand area fairing mount in..... when its in see the next pic!
But when i put the bolt in near the side stand it makes the lower/mid quiet a bit off
To overcome this i need to make a small bracket for the side stand fixing mount to allow the lower/mid to meet up properly
If i get time this week i will do some more and update you all so you can decide if its all worth it
Ive no idea why some of the pics are the wrong way down?
