Tyre Choices 2006 ZX10R
« on: October 23, 2014, 08:13:39 PM »

Hi guys not been on here for a while, but after some advice on new tyres!!!!!
Bought bike with Maxxis, stuck with them, but still not really happy with them.
Looking to replace, but confused and everyone I talk to has an opinion.
Has anyone used Battlax S20 Evo's - if so what are they like in handling in the dry/wet & wear?

Final question can anyone recommend anywhere in the Derby area for servicing - not dealer prices, but someone who can do a good job without ripping me off - major service due 17k!!
 :dontknow:
Thanks

What type of driving do you do? Track days? Commuting? Sunday blast?

I had s20's on the 04 zx10. Super grippy with good feedback on track. Not the quickest of turn in due to the flat profile.  As the tyre wore near the end there was a significant loss in grip- even though there was still some thread left. Wear very quick though.
I put s20 evos on last month but didn't get a chance to test them properly. They're supposed to have the same levels of side grip but a harder wearing compound in the centre for increased milage.

I have S20 Evos on and they seem OK to me but I don't ride in the wet so can't comment on wet weather performance.  Done about 1000 miles, one track day and one run what you brung  and still look pretty good with little signs of wear

Dunlop sportsmarts are good all round tyres. I tour on them and use them round the Ring, good wear and never let me down

I ran Mitchelin 2 CT's on a 2005 ZX10R back in 2006, excellent grip all weathers and they took me to Bulgaria and Back with miles still in them.
Recently had the same on a Z1000 and just as good as I remembered on the old ZX10R.
Now running the standard issue Bridgestones on a new ZX10R 30th Anniversary model and well made up with these too.
