EUROPEAN TRIP
« on: August 07, 2014, 08:05:34 AM »

Got back last week from a trip abroad with the wife. Rode from Cumbria to Brugges, cracking city. Then up to Holland for a look at the John Frost bridge at Arnhem. Next blast up to Bergen in Germany for the Belsen memorial. Tough three days all motorways really. Next a ride back down to Nurburg using the back roads. B252 is a good road, but we were put on a detour of about 30miles around Korbach which put us on the B251 which is awesome. Two days at a German friends at Nurburg, but no lap of the ring as it pissed it down and hailstoned at about 5pm. Then to finish off a ride up to Ypres for the last post at the Menin Gate. And finally home on the glorious English motorways.
Top week away, met some top people and rode some great roads.

Did a similar trip in May but also did Colditz. The roads around Nuremberg are simply awesome and a better thrill than doing the ring, at least you don't have cars cutting under you as you're tipping in on an Apex! I feel the Ring is too dangerous for bikes, they need to have set times for just bikes! Stick to the twisties in the area far better grin factor! :icon_thumright:
