crash bobbins
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:42:48 PM »

Hi guys im looking into buying frame bobbins and wondering whats peoples opinions whether there a good or bad idea. I know if a slide happens they could protect but if they dug into the ground theres a possibility of flipping the bike. Would you fit them or not

Fitted on mine .... had a minor slide across the track and only a small fairing scuff as the bobbin saved it.   I would always fit em personally.

Crash bungs can and sometimes do dig in to the ground in a crash, but how is that any different to a footpeg or engine case digging in? There's no telling what might happen once a crash takes place.

I have crash bungs fitted to my current bike, and have had them on previous bikes and they have served their purpose, saving hundreds, if not thousands of pounds worth of damage. They're not a perfect solution, but they can be worth having.  :icon_thumleft:

Deffo get engine protection, I have an NRC on my 6 which saved me any issues in an off at the Donny esses ..... also got protection on my 10 after grinding one of the cases in a tiny off on the Rockingham hairpin.

Not heard bad things.....mine hit the deck hard after a big stoppie at about 30 ish mph, came down sideways and slid the full width of Donny onto the grass, small graze is all it suffered.

I've got the GBRacing covers on mine. I had bobbins in my ZX6R. The broke the rear off my engine case at Mallory. Mind you it did clear the catch fence at the lake esses in ;)

Looks like a good buy. I feel better now they will be fitted. Looks a nasty crash on that pic
