no real difference in the c1h and c2h except belly pan colour and graphic on the tail was red on the 05 instead of gold on the 04

really not much difference between the 2

I picked up my first zx10 in August.
I always had a hankering for the 04/05 model cos of looks and hype so thats where my money went.
They seem to be great for holding their value too. Clean models are getting harder to find.
Some of the regular gurus will advise you im sure but known issues I've stumbled on are cracked frames (maybe more on the american models), gearboxes are not the toughest, and standard brakes are shite. A common mod is zzr1400 calipers (straight swap) and replace the axial master cylinder with a radial. I did this a few weeks ago and anchors are super now. one finger job!
Good luck with your search  :occasion14:

I've just sold mine, which is a shame as it is a pukka example and sounds just what you're looking for. He has paid the deposit and picking up in a few weeks. If it goes tits up I'll give you a shout.

What I will say is that you won't be disappointed in these machines. Great fun.

I'm getting more worried by the minute as I have made the decision to go the opposite to you. I fancy a Big Bang R1! Are they really boring?

Good luck anyway in your search.

Hi ben. well all i can say is i have had  5 yamaha  r 1 s over the  last few years and the best of  the lot is the 4c8 model. the big bang felt slow and boring compared to 4c8 model (2007/08) .Get down to your  local yam dealers and have a ride on one b4 u buy one.
Ben could you send me some info on your bike and let me know if the sale falls thru

It's in the for sale section. Black 2005 one. I'll get back to you if it falls thru.

As for the R1's, my mate had the Big Bang model and loves it. Although I haven't had a ride on it yet I do like the look and the sound of them. I'll have to give it a try before I buy one.
