Iv had time to think & I can't let this go this Gen3 has to do 200MPH+ I want to do it naturally so I'm looking to get the head worked & race cams in.

Where there's a will there's a way but you,ll need deep pockets me thinks. Got my ECU back from Rich yesterday (thanks Rich) so hoping to get it back to dynotech to see what improvements have been made (they dyno,d it 3 weeks ago so that,ll be the base figure).

I think it would be cheaper to sell it and get a Gen4, even then I am not sure you will make it.  8mph is going to need quite a bit of extra power.  What about NOS.  A shot of NOS at around 190mph may do it, but again this won't be cheap.

I reckon a Gen4 would top 200 without much more than flashing over the ECU it's far more aerodynamic than the Gen3 which I believe is the biggest problem here. I want to avoid turbo,s & nitrogen. To be honest if I had access to a Wind tunnel I would be developing a custom fairing rather than resorting to more horse power. Race fairings are designed for Racing not straight line speed & dimension wise the same as stock. BST wheels would make a difference but for the 2000 I can get the extra horses I need to break 200

I got 189mph on a stock gen 3 ZX10R on a long straight at the Charity Airfield Riding Day that Chaos Punx was quoting. Couldn't break that number and that was stock gearing if I remember rightly.

Assuming that was 100% stock and not fitted with a speedohealer then you wouldn't be able to go past 189mph as the clock stops there anyway. Realistically it was probably doing about 175ish.

IIRC with the factory rev limiter at 12,500 the gen3 is geared to 182mph stock, obviously raising the limiter & or sprocket changes even tyre profile changes such as 200/55/ make a difference if the motor has the power to pull the extra gearing. Mine is nearly finished being built, iv gone for a +2mm bore ported head larger valves kent cams, JE high compression pistons lightened balanced & knife edged crank ceramic transmission bearings & more.

The engine is all finished & ready fit but as my skills & knowledge have improved iv learned to check the valve to piston clearance by pressing the valve down whilst reading a dial gauge so im waiting on a another gasket coming from the US  :icon_thumright:  & then i will be asking you to run her in on the dyno :-P

If you get that I will be very happy, I don't think its going to be that much but would like to be proved wrong, aim for a small number then anything above will make you happy lol, torque should show a big leap though. Either way its going to be a great motor.
