cleaning titanium downpipes ?

I read somewhere, recently, that wd40 could be used to clean titanium downpipes.

Any thoughts ?

Should it be used with a soft cloth or something abrasive, nylon pad etc ?

Just spray on cold and wipe off with a soft cloth.
