Did a bit of touring in north France this weekend on two wheels but sadly not on the ninja, have decided to take the 10 over there in a few months so am after a large tankbag. What is the best thing to put between the tank bag and tank to avoid scratches etc? Any suggestions?

But you won't want something too thick if its a magnetic tank bag, as you will lose the strength of the magnets.

Thinking about it some more, you'd probably be better with a Kriega US10 or US20 tailpack, they don't move and are waterproof.

Thats the stuff I use under my mini tankbag and then magnets 'stick' fine still.
But as said your better off with a tailpack (and maybe a small tankbag)

 A large tankbag will mean that your head is stuck in the buffeting off the screen and will take a hammering  as you wont be able to get your head down out of it, it wont take long to get aright pain in the neck.... excuse the pun

Tail pack would be the way I would go if I was on my own but will have my mrs with me so there won't be space, will have a look at that stuff cheers

Its bloody expensive but have you looked at the Ventura rack and bag?

Kriega also do a tank adapter for cheap to allow mounting of their US packs - this has a very well padded & soft backing. I've have a US20 on the tank, US10 on the back and my R25 pack on one bike before. Also have the key\wallet holder that velcros on to a backpack strap. Quite high outlay for all of it but reasonably modular and will last a bloody long time.

I like the idea of the rack its probably more practical than the tank bag cheers for all help
