Matlock Bath
« on: February 24, 2013, 09:40:45 PM »

Just read on another forum that you now have to pay & display to park your bike at Matlock Bath, and the traffic wardens are very active taking photos for proof that you didn't have a ticket.

Thats another place I won't be going this year.

I agree it's a lovely place but I would rather go somewhere that you are less likely to get hassled by the plod.

Last time I was there the singular bike copper was a very decent chap, as far as waving his hand in the general direction up the road muttering something about being careful about a speed trap, and he was right. Very useful.
You can't really expect very large gatherings to not attract some police presence, any other event gets treated the same. Add in the extra traffic and it's not surprising they're there in this age of health n safety etc etc. Never seen any hassling.

Pay and display is the annoying thing, how they expect you to SECURELY put a display ticket on a bike is beyond me.

How hard would it be to put a keypad on the pay and display machine, so your reg number could be printed on the ticket?

Easy, some ticket machines already have that so you can't give yer ticket to someone else. Maybe these are the type at Matlock.
