Regardless of the fact that the person "killed" was a biker and she was a cop, although it does rub me up the wrong way, she should've had the fuckin book thrown at her.

If I remember correctly, a few years back a politician, I think,  was convicted of causing an accident on a motorway. He wasn't using the phone at the the time but they found out from his phone records that he'd sent a text some time previous to the accident and was, therefore, to blame.

I'm in no way condoning what he did, but where the fuck is the continuity in the "law" ?

Absolute disgrace , this country is screwed, its like all the MP's that got caught stealing expenses , they were made to pay it back, try that if your ever caught working whilst claiming benefit . . . . . . . .

Yep, saw this on MCN website this morning (think mine was the third response), an absolute disgrace, they look after their own don't they?

Am i alone in thinking if this was joe public they would have at least had a conviction of some kind (but then again she was a car driver!)?

The fact she lied in court as well and didn't get any reprimand for that stinks as well!

I tell you, we really are up against it in this country - if it isn't getting knocked off our bikes by blind car drivers, being persecuted by the coppers for even thinking of riding a bike, then the justice system doesn't even hold up it's end.

My greatest respects to this chap's family.

Its a shame cases like this arent decided on balance of probability rather than provable facts. Fucking hag deserves to rot in jail IMHO

I hear what you're sayin, but "balance of probability" doesn't really come into it. She admitted bein on the phone for all of journey. Phone records would prove it too, if it was you or me it would have been "proven".

She gets off with charge in quick time yet friends of mine are still being dragged through the courts 2 years after the death of a husband n wife who were travelling in a group on bikes in Tadcaster. They have only just got there bikes back and still are not allowed on the road on them due to bail restrictions. Even though a single charge has not been proven.

Their lives have been ruined by the UK CPS Justice system and all because they stopped to help their friends when they crashed.

I take your point. The CPS are a bunch of spineless cunts that like to work 'when it suits' and don't like to go after their own kind even if they're guilty as hell. I know from personal experience myself when the CPS shafted me after I was almost killed in a road accident and didn't prosecute the guilty party because of his legal connections.

While I take your point re. police looking after police, that wasn't the point of the post.

The point was there dosen't appear to be a level playing field re. some convictions. As I stated in the OP, the fact that a "biker" was killed and she was a cop is irrelevant. Somebody was AND she initially lied and then admitted to "being on the phone" for all of the journey so it was hardly a "momentary lapse of concentration".

Even if the bike was overtaking or not is irrelevant, to a certain extent, because he wasn't speeding to do so AND, if he was overtaking she may not have seen him but that means she would have pulled out in front of the other vehicle anyway.
