FI Light
« on: May 08, 2007, 11:05:53 PM »

Put my bike in to Kawasaki for it's 8,000 mile service, although it was almost 9,500 miles on it.

Anyway got the bike home and parked up on the drive.  About 20 minutes later I opened the garage up to put her away.  Turned the key and the FI light stayed on.    Switched it off then on again and still the same but this time I started it and it ran fine so put the bike away.

I was thinking that during the service they've knocked a sensor or got it damp or something like that.

Got the bike out the next day to go to work and the damned FI light is still on, so I rode it anyway, just taking it easy.  Get to a stop and switched the engine off then on again and hey presto the FI light is off.  :icon_scratch:  This has gone on for a week and almost 400 miles so finally spoke to Kawasaki today and they said to me that the mechanic had had a few issues with the light when it was in for it's service but thought he'd solved it.  He'd put it down to the exhaust valve being sticky  :tongue3: and could I pop the bike down to them so that they could have another look at it.

Took them 15 minutes of looking and then decided that the motor for the valve is knackered and I will need a new exhaust.  Which they would expect to have in stock once the claim has been made within 3-4 days.

When I asked him what had caused it he said "Water has got in there and to be honest they may as well be made of toffee and Kawasaki now that they're an issue"

Begs the question, why couldn't they have sorted this last week when the bike was with them.  I now have to arrange different transport for another day or not go to work.

Anyway on the plus side it's a warranty issue and I shan't be paying a penny  B-) [clap]

.............plus they've used most of the engine oil on the chain by the looks of it.  Did my 8 miles home and the fling was all over the back wheel, tyre and even some on the rear caliper and disk.   Needles to say I gave her a bit of a bath that night.

Haha, that was so funny.

I turned up at her work place last thursday to go to Hunter's Lodge, Wincanton and said "You've polished your bike!",    "Yep, I polished every bit of it".

So I said to her "Please tell me you didn't polish the brakes?", "which bits are those?"

"Oh yeah, they come up really well to".
