MCE Insurance
« on: January 04, 2013, 07:48:05 AM »

Just thumbed through MCN and read that MCE insurance are now insuring bikes with any modifications at no extra cost on the premium.
YEA RIGHT I thought so I've just put a quote through as a standard bike and with the following mods.... P. Commander, Can, race rep Paintwork, Quick shifter and braided hoses and it came up with the same quote both times.
Must be a catch though.

You'll be shafted if they change their minds.......Or maybe they accept many riders are riding with mods they don't disclose. I think alot of riders ride with mods accepting they will recieve standard price payouts in the event of a claim - however complications will arise when mods are discovered and insurers void their cover. Will be an interesting one to watch.

If you've declared all the mods, and not told any lies, and they quote you then sorted. I have insured though MCE for the last two years, no one could anywhere near them premium wise.

The only problems I can see is that you declare your mods this year, then next year the decide to charge for them, or they try to attribute the blame for an accident to your mods..

I've been with MCE for the past 3 years, when its come to renewal time the price they've quoted for the renewal has been higher than taking out a new policy with them, so I've refused the renewal and just taken out a new policy with them.

Thing is if you don't declare them, you could be in deep #hit and loose lots if your unlucky enough to have to make a claim.

I've been with MCE for 12 years, They've always been best on price every year and provided me with all the cover I needed including breakdown recovery, Euro cover etc.

I'm currently in the middle of my 2nd claim while being with them and though their customer service can sometimes leave a little to be desired, they've generally been very good.  :glasses9:

I declared some last year but not all and the premium did increase.
When I renew later this year I will be declaring all of them just to be on the safe side.

The thing that gets me is that crash bungs and brake upgrades command a higher premium!! Surely you would've thought it would reduce the premium as it makes the bike safer....  :icon_scratch:
