Hi all
« on: March 03, 2013, 02:57:41 PM »

Hi, just saying hello to everyone on the forum.  Although I do ride a Kawasaki, it isn't a 10R (clues in the user name   ).  I had an early ZX9R 12 years ago, which was my one and only excursion into the sports bike arena, but I never really got along with the riding position.  I went back to naked sports bikes and have had a Z1000 for the last 4 years which I have to say I really like, but I feel the need for more power so I am looking at getting a 10R.  For the road, the Z1000 is plenty fast enough, and for my riding abilities is more than up to the job, but I did a RWYB at the end of last season, and I am hooked once again.  I used to drag race in the early 80's, and I thought I was past all the kind of foolishness.  After 8 runs, three things became obvious:

1. I still love drag racing, and even though I am now more than twice as old as I was when I quit, I can still do it and not totally embarrass myself.
2. The Z1000 is a great bike, but not fast enough for the strip
3. I need another 50 bhp at least

So, I either spend a shit load on tuning, or I buy myself a 10r, so that is my plan.  Currently looking for a 2008-2010 model 10R as they look like the best bang for bucks, latest model is a bit faster but twice the price.

I will admit that the first thing I will do is put a handlebar conversion on it, which most will say will ruin the bike, but that's just how it is, I can't handle the sports bike riding position and although it would be alright on the strip, it will be my regular ride so needs  to be comfy.
