Has anyone had "issues" with Shell petrol ?
Filled up at near Portsmouth docks and the bike ran like a bag o spanners until I refilled with Repsol. Bike didn't miss a beat all way through Spain using Repsol.   :icon_scratch:

Never had problem. bike runs of shell V power 95% of the time never misses a beat.

I had an intermittent problem like this, that I initially thought was fuel on my 03 R1, turned out to be a sticking throttle position sensor.

why are you using V power it has no effect in a bike as the bike cannot read the RON rating and readjust?

Or is it just for a piece of mind?

I used to run V power in the Imprezza as it was mapped using the stuff but I have gone back to normal shell now as I don't really need extra power in a car (your only as fast as the slowest car on the road), as for the bike I stick with good old 95 RON, I do have a certain lolyty as I seem try to only use shell.

Also running 99 RON in a 2 stroke is not a good thing as 2 strokes have fixed timing...........

That's correct, on something like an Impreza that has knock sensors the ecu will alter the timing to compensate.  Higher octane fuels actualy burn slower therefore the timing needs to be advanced to compensate

I've tried the higher octane stuff in every vehicle I've owned to see if it makes any difference (there's been a few), I've found more often than not it makes a difference in the ones that it shouldn't and vice versa. Examples: My ZX7R, fixed timing (though a +4 advancer fitted) - much smoother on part throttle\load. Hornet 900, fixed, better MPG. Pug 106, always 15% better mileage. Beemer 3 series w/knock sensor\advancer, handbook said recommended to run on 98\Optimax\V-Power (or whatever Shell were calling it at the time) = no difference whatsoever.
All tests done same commuting routes, variety of roads, same general pace over at least 6 months. At least 5 tanks of each tested in a row of each RON before changing. Any difference was noticed within a tankful on all vehicles.

Not done any meaningful testing on the 10 but so far I can't see any difference.

I also use Shell all the time and never had a problem with the quality.

Oh but the price difference always makes it borderline if the extra MPG is worth it...

Turbo cars lurve v-power put anything else in and the differance can be felt fairly quickly i wouldnt run mine on anything else

Put a few tank fulls in the bike ages ago and felt no differance so dont bother now  :dontknow:

Yeah my RS6 wouldn't take anything less - even said so in the manual (98 RON or higher)
