Newbie and potential buyer here.
« on: September 26, 2012, 07:55:07 PM »

Hi all I'm currently looking to sell my ZX636 B1H and move up to the ZX10. I've only been riding my bike since October last year and feel its just not as fun anymore! As you know with 600cc you've got to scream them everywhere to stay in the power band. I just find this too much hard work to be honest.

What should I look out for and try to avoid when buying?

Cheers Gaz.

welcome...and you could try lowering the 636 gearing.. be cheaper/bit safer option than a 10.

I don't know anyone with one haha.

My old man has an 08 R1 which I'm sure will be the same power delivery so I'll ask him for a go next time we are out.

There you go, making your first mistake, thinking all litre bikes are alike....

Funny thing is I actually test rode an 08 R1 before buying my Gen 1 ZX10R and can tell you they're chalk & cheese! The R1 does everything very smoothly, without fuss...which I found a little boring to be honest, so when I hopped up on the Gen 1, I knew within a few miles I was going home with this bike, the power delivery was much more direct & the bike relies on you not to make a balls of things, its a riders machine and the more you put into it the  more you get out of it.  :headbang:

Cheers for the response guys, I'll test ride one and see what I think. But I'm pretty sure I'll be fine as we all have to start somewhere.
