My baby is dead
« on: September 26, 2012, 10:41:30 AM »

Well my bikes been totalled. Happened (Friday 14th September) the day before I was due to go away on my annual Europe bike trip too, what a nightmare!

Basically, a BMW driver travelling in the opposite direction wanted to turn right and proceeded to do so without looking properly and I ended up ploughing into his rear passenger door. Luckily I was catapulted around the back end of the car as it kept moving across the road.

Front end destroyed, frame bent and cracked, forks twisted. Total Loss Write off  :crybaby2:

And to show how far the front wheel was pushed back...

Gutted.

Court case for "uninsured loss" and get the cost of all that back as you'd already booked it all so his fault - he pays ;)

Not at the scene he didn't, guy was a total asshole, first blaming it on someone waving him across, then trying to accuse me of speeding and 'appearing out of nowhere'. Didn't even say sorry.  [naughty]

That's the plan. Fingers crossed it all goes my way!

Very sorry to hear about this, good gen1's are getting thin on the ground

Hope you got witnesses and took pics?

Came around a LH bend once to confront a Peugot (lady driver) on the wrong side of the road which I hit more or less head on. Like you I got catapulted clear and an oncoming lady driver stopped (in time!) and took pics. She was my main witness. I also phoned the police who later notified me that she had to attend a "driver awareness course" I did eventually get a reasonable payout from her insurance co, but its a bloody PITA and I was off the road a long time :boxing:

You might want to visit your doctor even if you feel OK.

Thats shit, feel sorry for you mate. Also bring into the fact that your bike came to rest on 'Keep Clear' road markings and as well as the driver being a total c@*t he failed to adhere to that too as you obviously were not stationary so he has no case. Without due care and attention for him.
Glad you made the trip  :icon_thumright:

keep on top of whats going on with this mate and get a solicitor..the other side will have to pay for that..

I had an accident something like Jak...I met a car fully on my side of the road..me not speeding being a model biker good lane position for a blind left hander and all that .. her doing an over take on a right hand bend.. leaving me nowhere to go but a tiny gap to the extreme left of my own lane..I missed the head on crash because of good lane position that gave a better view round the corner and going slow enough to change direction so i got the chance to miss her bonnet..  but i didnt have enough room to miss her side..Anyway thats 3yrs ago and even after her being done by the police and me having good witnesses on my side..its still not sorted and her insurance company are denying liability because shes accusing me of speeding..even though she did admit liability to get a lesser caution.!!!

Thats an example of how these things can go if you dont keep on top of it...get a solicitor and as Jak advised go see a doctor.

hopefully your a penalty kick and all will go smooth..just be ready :icon_thumright:

I feel your pain. Another reason to cull BMW drivers, they certainly do more damage than badgers.
