Cycle Home from Work
« on: February 11, 2014, 09:08:31 AM »

Hi all,
Started cycling a little while back, just leisure stuff, plus the odd commute to work (in my previous job) and got to say, thoroughly enjoyed it.  I decided, as a project it would be good to do a ride home from work (at the time I was working in Bedford, but lived in Honiton, Devon).  Map recce showed it to be about 180 miles, so in theory it wouldn't be too much of a problem.  Lots of admin tasks later, I set off at 0600 in the morning and finished 193 miles later at 1030.  7 punctures along the way, (4 in the space of 5 miles) was the only down side to it, but having burnt in excess of 8000 calories and achieved a longest distance for me in the saddle I'd recommend it as a challenge and excellent way to get fir /lose weight to anyone.

Very impressive, assume you are referring to 10:30pm, or else you were averaging 43mph including punctures?

Thanks Dave, and Prilla, yes, though I can go quickly, even Bradley Wiggins would need help at that speed!  :icon_thumleft:
